Crazy Busy Times

We have been so busy here at Wall Written. We have been growing so much, and with so much to do, the blog hasn’t gotten enough attention. I’m going to fix that right now. :)

The new website has launched, and is in Beta Mode. By the end of this week, we’ll be switching it over, so the old website design won’t be online anymore.

Since the last time I wrote, I won a contest for entrepreneurs called “Face to Face” by British Airways. They flew me first to London, then to Shanghai, China. While I was there I met with some vinyl manufacturers, to look into the possibility of getting some great new colors. We want to make sure the quality is going to be up to Wall Written’s high standards, so right now we’re in the testing phase of the project. If we decide to go with this manufacturer, you can expect to see our new colors in early 2012.

While I was in London, I was inspired to create a World Traveler Collection. I’ve already got some brilliant Londonesque designs ready, which will be uploaded to the website in the coming weeks. Then we’re planning a trip to Europe this April to collect more design inspiration. We’ll be stopping in London (which I really loved, can you tell?), France, Spain and Portugal. Here’s a sneak peek of what’s to come:

We’re going to get back into the swing of things soon. In the mean time, just bare with me. I’ll try to keep you posted about what we’re up to, and even start posting some of the photo contests and results for February and March. We’ll also resume our weekly giveaways, and work on posting more videos with tips and ideas.

Craziest Time of the Year

Followers of this blog might remember the new website I was hoping would be done in time for Christmas. As you might have noticed, it is not online. Now, it’s almost ready, but we don’t want to change anything until the Christmas rush has passed. So the old site is still online, but you can preview the new Beta Site here. I’m very excited about it, but you’ll have to bear with me, it’s just not quite ready. (The picture galleries are a great example of this- I’m still working on the layout and choosing the pictures that we’ll be displaying.)

In addition to all the work we’ve been doing to the new site, we are also much busier than usual, (Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year!) and, to top it all off, we moved our office! We’re still in the same building, but now we’re in a much larger unit. (Huzzah!)

So I feel guilty that I haven’t been posting on the blog regularly, and neglecting my facebook duties. But I’m turning over a new leaf. :) We’ve just announced the winner of November’s Photo Contest, and in a few minutes, I’ll be posting the information for our next giveaway (just in time for Christmas).

Thanks for hanging in there! The wait is going to be worth it. :)

Sneak Peek at Our New Website

Here at Wall Written we have been hard at work on designing a more user-friendly, attractive website. It’s still a couple weeks out before the whole site will be ready for your shopping pleasure, but here’s a sneak peek at how it’s going to look.

So if the blogging and facebook updates are a little low for the coming fortnight- just know I haven’t forgotten about you. I love you. I just need to spend my time getting this ready for you. Because I know you’re going to love it. :)

An Office Meeting at Wall Written

Yesterday, we were gathered around a table having an office meeting. I sat back and thought, look at all these beautiful ladies. I asked my husband to snap a quick photo for our blog.

Clockwise around table starting at near left: Susan, Camille, Emily, Melissa, Brittany and Natalie.

Can I just say, as a business owner, I have been so fortunate to have such a great group of talented, hard-working women. (We also work with a man… and he’s my husband, so of course I think he’s also fantastic.) Everybody has been doing an amazing job. This afternoon, we had 10 minutes to get a rush order finished up and packaged before we had to drive it over to the post office. I was so impressed by how everybody came together to get it out the door on time, in perfect condition, and with all the designs and colors intact.

Susan, you really are one talented lady. You have just been a jewel in creating my vision! What I really like about what you are doing for me is that you are giving me something that is different than what is “out there”  and that really speaks to “My” home…not something that is off the shelf. We got the “Carpe Vino” up in the kitchen last night.  It is unbelievable.  It is exactly what we were wanting and I can’t wait to show it off.  You did an amazing job. I have already begun to sing your praises to friends and family.  Thank you for going the extra mile for your customers.”

Lisa Hudson

Natalie was so helpful. I put up the growth chart right away, and now with both of my decals applied, my daughter’s room is finally finished.  And it is perfect!! Thank you, again, so much for such wonderful products, and thank you for your wonderful customer service!  I’ve been raving about you and recommending you to everyone I know!!”

Elena Duperron

Hi Brittany! THANK YOU SO MUCH for my decals. They are perfect! And I was super surprised to see that you sent both blue options. That is so sweet of you! I’m so glad you did because the “Minted” is a perfect match. I can’t wait to share the booth photos with you!”

Leslie Vega

Thank YOU!  You were a big help Emily.  Just so you know, I have been using [another wall words company] for several years and have done a good bit of business with them.  My customer service experience this last go around, was terrible.  I contacted them first about my “clock wall” because I always use them.  The uninterested response I got made me look elsewhere.  You now have my business!  I have passed your information on to several of my friends.

Good luck in your business Emily, and remember, GREAT customer service does in fact make ALL the difference.  You were a sweetheart.”

Robin Wade

I definitely agree that Customer Service does make all the difference, so here at Wall Written, we have some of the best people around working for you: creating beautiful designs, shipping them to you quickly, and working with you if there are any bumps along the road. We take care of our customers.

Lots of Changes

Sorry for all the blog neglect! We have been crazy busy here at Wall Written. (July was a month for the record books! Thank you all for your support.)

We are switching blogging companies, (WordPress, here we come!) so finding some of our older content may be more trouble than it’s worth. I’m trying to get it all together on this new blog, but sites that have linked to previous posts may have some broken links. Sorry :(

On the positive side, we’ll now be able to post regular blog updates again, including Giveaways, Photo Contests and design ideas. Deedle!

Thanks for all your patience!

Fixing Our Videos

So one of the little things that has been driving me crazy for almost a year is our video library. We have some awesome and dead useful instructional videos showing the step-by-step application of a Wall Written Statement.

We made these videos by borrowing my dad’s sweet video camera, then my sister, Natalie, had a five minute lesson on videography, and we cranked out some movies like it’s nobody’s business. Having no previous editing experience, I sat down for two days and put together some rough-but-good-enough videos for your viewing pleasure.

The clincher (and what’s been giving me that irritated twitch whenever I so much as think of YouTube) is: when I rendered the good-enough videos, they became blurry and not good enough anymore.

Want to see one and decide for yourself? I present to you Exhibit A: Blurry Step One Video:

BUT (eedle-deedle!) today I was able to sit down with an awesome videographer who is going to edit our videos and re-render them for us within the next week or two. I’m so excited!

Another cause for excitement, is that we’ll probably be able to make some more useful videos with application tips, design ideas and craft projects, as well as some tutorials for our website. So look forward to that for the summer.

Does anybody have a suggestion for a video project you’d like to see us make? Just leave a comment!
