Oh.. so much more….
After all of the wedding showers, and baby showers I went to, I find myself amazed that yet another wedding has crept up on me. So now to conjure up a truly unique gift. I prefer to give meaningful gifts based on things I know about the couple. Gift registries are only in an absolute emergency. Thank goodness I’m not there yet. I visited the Wall Written website and utilizing the custom design tool I came up with a perfect gift. Which I call “Framed Glass Monograms”. This project is a wonderful keepsake with their surname in larger letters with the word “Established” and the year married.
When huge sales come along at local craft stores I buy a variety of picture frames. The size isn’t hugely important. Nothing really big, anything within a 9″ to 24″ size. Shape doesn’t matter much either. With this project you just go with the flow. I like that. Used frames work as well. Thrift stores are a great place to look.
Once I have the frame(s), I grab the invite and check out the soon-to-be-married couple’s last name. Let’s say for example the last name is Robertson. Then I go to Wall Written’s website to the create your own tab. You can set the background to the same measurements as the glass in the frame you are going to use. From there, choose a font. I usually go with a simple, easy to read script font for the surname and classic print lettering for “Established 2014″.
Something like this:
There are some really nice embellishments that can be added as well, such as ornamental lines to go between the first and second lines, imparting a certain je na sias quoi to your creation. As for colors, I think black, slate or chocolate are wonderful, additionally, etched glass looks simply elegant. If you know their décor use these suggestions as a guide. You can choose one or two colors. The design tool will let you decide the look you want, and is super easy.
For assembly see the instructions on Wall Written’s Channel on YouTube or visit their web site. Basically, you just remove the backing from the frame, take out the glass, clean it, apply the vinyl, and then put the glass back in the frame. Use hot glue to hold the glass securely to the frame, add some coordinating ribbon for hanging and Violà! You’re done! A thoughtful, memorable gift.
This is a great decorating idea for the Do-It-Yourself Bride-To-Be, except use a table top picture frame or place the frame on an ornamental easel. For the back of the frame, hot glue ribbon, or braided cord in the same or complimentary color as the frame, being sure to cover the backside of the frame as well as the glass edges. Place on the tables at the rehearsal dinner and use them again at the reception. After the big day the bride and groom have their own keepsake and the remaining frames can be given as Thank You Gifts.
This design could be used for an anniversary present, as well as a baby shower gift – recording the new bundle of joy’s birth, list the baby’s’ name and statistics creating a unique and indelible keepsake.
Nice, easy and very thoughtful, sure to be a hit no matter what the occasion!
The bug bit me the other day. The organizing bug. I know exactly when it struck. Right when I tripped on a box of Easter decorations that didn’t quite make it to storage. To start, I took stock of what was there. I love to decorate for the holidays, and realized the haphazard way I have stored all those boxes was a huge waste of space. So that is where I started. After identifying which seasons/holidays I was working with, I estimated how many plastic tubs with lids I would need. With a supply of color coded tubs; Red for Christmas, Pinkish Red for Valentines, Blue tubs for the 4th of July and Orange ones for Fall/Halloween. I even picked up a Purple tub for Easter (I was thinking colored Easter Eggs).
I started sorting and re-boxing decorations. I threw away old, cracked or broken items. I kid myself that I can just glue that, or make a stitch here or there. I know I really won’t get to it. So in the trash they went.
As I started to stack them in the storage area, I realized with so many Christmas and Fall/Halloween tubs, I still didn’t know what was in them just by looking at the tub. I like to put our outside lights up first, so I wanted them towards the front for easy access. I thought about a list on the front, and frankly, I was just too tired to go through all the now packed tubs.
As I was drifting to sleep that night, inspiration dawned! I could just put a vinyl image on the tub that represents (at least to me) that season or holiday. On the Design Your Own tab on the Wall Written web site, I perused the embellishments and found plenty of designs to use. I ordered a bunch. I thought a 3” image in white would really stand out; making identification much easier.
I got pine trees for Christmas, snowmen for winter, eggs and bunnies for Easter, stars for the 4th of July, bats & witches hats for Halloween, leaves & pumpkins for Fall/Thanksgiving and hearts for Valentines. Putting them on was a breeze. Now I have the tubs all stacked in storage and can tell at a glance what is inside. Now I am looking around the basement for other things to label, this was actually fun!

I have attached to the photos of the wall written phrase that we used in our living room. It was so easy to apply, it’s perfect!
I’m so glad you sent the pictures, Leann, they are gorgeous.
We have never received better and more personal support than we have with Wall Written. We had a vision for how we wanted our daughter’s nursery to look, and when we contacted Wall Written they not only made that vision come to life, but they made it even better! Emily worked with us personally, and emailed design ideas back and forth and gave us personal attention. We received the decals promptly, and they were PERFECT! The big items like the tree were actually easy to put up on the wall and it made the room gorgeous! Our little daughter is now 8 months old and she can point to the butterflies or birds on the wall when asked, for example, “where are the butterflies?” She also knows her name from the beautiful wall decal. She is just mesmerized by her room and truly loves it! As a parent, I am ecstatic that the room is not only beautiful and unique but that it has taught our daughter so much already at such a young age. Additionally, the measurement tree has allowed us to track her growth along the way too. Once she is older, it will continue to be so special to us all to look back at the wall and remember how much she has grown. Our whole family thanks Wall Written!”
We wanted to say thanks again for all of your help! We thought you might also like to see how these all turned out. We were truly thrilled with the way they came out. We are excited to enter the photo contest, too. Everyone who has come to see the nursery is just in awe at how great it looks and how much the decals add. We have highly recommended your company to our family and friends! Thanks again!”
Thanks, Jennifer! We’re glad you love your statements.
I love when customers follow up with us. It’s awesome to see pictures, and all the different ways people have used our designs.
First off, just wanted to say that it was so easy to install with the instructions that came with the wall art. I had it on my daughter’s wall in about an hour and that included measuring, putting on the tape, etc. She absolutely loves the quote and I like the fact that her wall looks decorated without a heavy picture hanging over her bed where she is sleeping! Love the wall art and looking for places to add more. Thanks!”
